Air traffic is taking on unknown dimensions. The measures to solve the problem are very expensive; from the relocation of neighborhoods, airports, shielding buildings against noise, etc.

A very recent and innovative project is underway. The prestigious MIT has developed a new landing procedure that reduces the enormous noise of aircraft when landing, while reducing the operating costs of the aviation industry.

Tests of this new technique in 2002 at the Louisville International Airport in Kentucky showed that the procedure reduced noise by 50 percent and significantly reduced fuel consumption.

Since then they have applied it to other airports: Logan International (Boston), Sacramento International (California) and Gatwick (London).

Noise restrictions for aviation and the new solution

Aircraft noise is preventing the growth of aviation, according to the MIT report, neighboring communities frequently initiate legal actions against the expansion of airports. The MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics indicates that fewer than 5 new runways have been built at the 30 major airports in the United States during the past decade.

The new landing procedure manages to keep the planes from flying higher for a longer period and descending in a more continuous descent. Airplanes are quieter because they operate with lower thrust levels and because they fly higher over cities.

The results of the so-called tests CDA procedure demonstrate a reduction in noise of between three and six decibels, according to project manager Clarke.

This project is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), NASA, Boeing, and UPS.

You are not right. I'm sure. I propose to discuss it.

    Have you tried it yourself?

  4. Tobechukwu

And with this I have come across. We will discuss this question.

I'm sorry, but, in my opinion, they were wrong. We need to discuss. Write to me in PM, speak.
